The Ministry of Healthcare informs about medical and social assistance to affected citizens of the Batken province

Today on May 2, 2021 during the press conference in Bishkek the first deputy Minister of Healthcare and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Ms. Aliza Soltonbekova told about medical and social assistance to the victims of the Batken province.

As of morning of May 2, 178 people were injured and 34 of them died, she said.

According to Ms. Aliza Soltonbekova, on May 1 at 8 P.M. Tajikistan returned 10 hostages to Kyrgyzstan; the Minister of healthcare and social development personally examined them. Five of those wounded were hospitalized.

Among the wounded there was one medic, Mr. Burkanali uulu Ashirali. He is a paramedic from the Batken province Family Medicine Center and was admitted on April 29 with a closed craniocerebral injury and concussion.

During the press conference it was noted that if necessary, CAT scan can be done free of charge.

Last night 8 more injured persons were transferred to Bishkek. As of today, 56 injured are being treated in Bishkek. Bishkek Scientific and Research Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics has 35 patients, 12 persons are in the National Hospital and 9 in the National Surgery Center.

In addition, the Batken provincial unified hospital has seven patients, the Kadamjai territorial hospital has 16, the Samarkandek Center of General Medical Aid (CGMA) has two and the Leylek CGMA has seven persons.

The rest of the victims were discharged and sent to outpatient treatment after receiving medical aid.

Their injuries are different, but mostly these are gunshot and shrapnel wounds.

Among the injured who were transferred to Bishkek, the condition of one person was assessed as extremely serious, six are serious and the others in a moderate or reasonably good condition. The emergency patients were operated on and more surgeries to remove the foreign body are planned for the next week.

All involved hospitals in Bishkek and the Batken province have enough medicines and medical devices, blood and its components.

The first deputy Minister of Health and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Ms. Aliza Soltonbekova said that on May the 1st, the Republican Goodwill Headquarters “Help to Batken” sent more than 65 tons of humanitarian aid to the Batken Province. This included soap and personal hygiene products, food items, clothing, blankets and bed linen.

The first cargo (20 tons), accompanied by staff of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic, was delivered at 14.30, the second (45 tons) at 24.00.

Aliza Soltonbekova expressed gratitude to all volunteers, activists, concerned citizens, public organizations and representatives of the business sector for helping to collect and transport the humanitarian aid.
